On Sunday, September 23th, The Newton Partnership is hosting our Fourth Annual Newton Touch-A-Truck event from 10am-1pm at Newton South High School at 140 Brandeis Rd. in Newton.

Kids will have the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a big rig, touch the scoop of a digger, see the inside of an ambulance, sit in a police cruiser, walk up the ramp of a delivery vehicle, and much more. Buy a drink or snack from a food truck.

Here is a partial list of the vehicles they are expecting:

Wally’s Ice Cream Truck, Shredder Truck, Ambulance,Tractor/Trailer Rig,Armored Car, Moving Van, Fire Truck, School Bus, Police Cruiser and Motorcycle, Flat Bed, and many more…

This story is an example of the intense activity we are witnessing in this new market. The Pondside Condominiums are located in the heart of Jamaica Plain, close to the bustling Centre Street with many shops and restaurants, and even closer to the Jamaica Pond. Granted it is not often that units come to the market in this desirable row-house. This second floor unit was listed on July 20 and was under agreement by August 11, 2012. The property closed on September 7 because all conditions were in place for a quick close–42 total days on market total from list to close.

Ironically, in 2009 another unit in this same building that took 250 days to get to the closing table. That was then, this is now.

Selecting a paint color was always a monumental chore. I  travelling back and forth to the paint store in an exhausting search for the perfect color.  Armed with endless color chips and I usually ended up with a patchwork wall of sample colors, my mission has always been to find the perfect color for harmonious living. This would drive my husband crazy.

This time it was different.  I let my fingers do the walking–browsed from my sofa on my tablet searching for the perfect paint color for my hillside bungalow.  I had so much fun using Pinterest.com (read more below.) I learned all about the latest rage in paint colors and could actually see examples with beautiful photographs. The pictures often link to useful web sites where I got to read about what kind of colors work for hillside bungalows and such.
