Newton Open Studios, May 16 – 17, 11 am to 5 pm, FREE
Today I stopped in at Newton Open Studios’ location at 225 Nevada Street to browse th myriad display of photographs, paintings, fabric arts, jewelry, and many other products all produced by local artists and craftsmen. Now I know what I am doing tomorrow for a good part of the afternoon! Over 140 artists are displaying their works at various locations across the city. Part of the Newton Pride Committee, NOS is funded by the artists, donations, and by the Newton Cultural Council. See www.NewtonOpenStudios.com for details.
Enchanted Silks by Karin – Karin Joy Sprecher does amazing hand painted silk scarves and Silk Judaica. A beautiful huppa is from her son’s wedding. For those of you who may not know, a chuppa is the portable canopy beneath which the couple stands during their marriage ceremony. Her equisite scarves are the perfect accessory for a summer dress. Contact her at Enchanted.Silks@mac.com.
Keith F. Nelson, Artist Chinese Brush Ink and Watercolor – I fell in love with this man’s work. Chinese brush work is to my mind a meditation in process. Keith’s stunning watercolor work is vivid and sublime.
